Often referred to as the ‘Aladin’s Cave of hardware shops’ our shelves are full of a vast range of products from nuts and bolts to timber and tools. And if we haven’t got it, we’ll get it for you!

History

Gemma Thomas, the owner of the shop, grew up in the business which was once owned by her parents, Bob and Sal for over 25 years. The Thomas family’s connection to the shop dates back to October 1984 when Bob and Sally purchased the store, which was then known as Woodrow’s, and rebranded it as R.W.Thomas, and then later, Bridge Hardware.

During the 27 years they ran the shop, Bob and Sally built a legacy and created lasting relationships with the local community. The store quickly became a fixture in the village, affectionately known by locals as ‘Thomas’s’, a nickname that remains to this day. In 2011, Robert and Sally-Ann retired and sold the business to Mr. Ali, who continued running it under the same name.

Almost exactly 40 years since her parents bought the business, Gemma brought Bridge Hardware back to its roots. Gemma, has many fond memories of the shop from her childhood, including helping her parents after school. Gemma was taught the value of hard work and the importance of community.

Gemma and the team are working hard to bring fresh ideas to the business but one thing is for sure, it will remain a traditional hardware shop and will stay true to its roots and hope that Bridge Hardware remains a vital part of village life for years to come.
